Today, you do not send emails only from your Mac, you also send from the iPhone and iPad. The problem: your messages are not synchronized between all your devices. In everyday life, it is necessary to remember from which machine this email was sent to put the hand on it, which proves uncomfortable as possible. If you have an address in me.com or icloud.com, you do not have this problem and you have surely noticed that all your emails (sent, received, redirected, etc.) are synchronized on all your devices.
IMAP, what is it?
Apple does not do magic, it just uses the IMAP mail protocol, able to synchronize the same email account between multiple devices. Even though this protocol has existed for a long time, it has remained underutilized as long as we only have one computer. We used the POP protocol. Today all the messenger services and operators offer IMAP, all you need to do is make a few adjustments to take advantage of it. Your emails will be synchronized.
If you read one on your iPhone, it will be marked as read on your Mac and iPad, and vice versa. To apply the settings related to your email provider, see the table below, then go to the settings for your email accounts on your Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Note that some email services require IMAP activation in your account preferences.

How does the VIP service work?
The VIP service allows you to activate additional functions for your favorite correspondents, in Mail, but also in the notification center. To add a contact to your favorites, click on the little star, to the left of his name, in one of the emails he sent you.
Of course, book this feature only to your relatives, or colleagues, in the case of professional use of Mail. With this action, a new VIP topic is created in the Mail sidebar.
In one click, you access all messages of the person so designated. This is very convenient, especially in the case of a search. Regarding the notification center of OS X, it can limit Mail notifications to VIPs: a real comfort in everyday life.
Go to the Mail menu and then Preferences in the General tab, in front of the Notifications new message field, select VIP from the drop-down menu.
Thus, the notification center will only notify you when you receive an email from one of your favorite contacts. Note that this feature is also available in Mail on iPhone and iPad. Enjoy it. For more information on Bellsouth Email Settings you can visit Bellsouth Email Login.
